Rahu! Just hearing the name fills us with fear. Even before its period begins, we start worrying, fearing that something might go wrong.
There is a common fear in everyone's mind regarding the negative effects of Rahu's period. It's natural, as people often experience various kinds of problems and difficulties during this period. However, it's also true that many people receive different types of domestic benefits during Rahu's period.
In the solar system, Rahu and Ketu do not have any physical existence. In Vedic astrology, they are considered shadow planets. According to mythological stories, when Lord Vishnu was distributing the nectar of immortality among the gods, a demon named Swarbhanu disguised himself as a deity and stood between the Sun and the Moon to consume the nectar. When the Sun and the Moon informed Lord Vishnu about this, he used his Sudarshan Chakra to sever the head of the demon Swarbhanu. However, since Swarbhanu had already consumed the nectar, he became immortal in two separate forms: the head, which we know as Rahu, and the body, which we know as Ketu.
When the Sun and Moon deities informed Lord Vishnu about Swarbhanu's act of disguising himself as a god and drinking the nectar, and as a result of his body being split in two, Swarbhanu vowed that he would eclipse the Sun and Moon whenever given the chance. This is what we now know as solar and lunar eclipses. Modern civilization may not readily accept this explanation, but if you observe the positions of the planets during each solar and lunar eclipse, you'll notice that during a solar eclipse, the Sun is usually within close degrees of Ketu or Rahu, and during a lunar eclipse, the Moon is within close degrees of Rahu or Ketu. In simple terms, a solar or lunar eclipse occurs whenever the Sun or Moon comes within the close degrees of Rahu or Ketu.
In the astrological chart, Rahu and Ketu do not have their own houses or signs. Rahu is considered a co-ruler of Aquarius, and Ketu is considered a co-ruler of Scorpio. Some believe that Rahu is exalted in Taurus, while others believe it is exalted in Gemini. Similarly, some consider Ketu to be exalted in Scorpio, while others believe it is exalted in Sagittarius.
In astrology, Rahu is considered the significator of material pleasures. During Rahu's dasha, a person tends to become more attracted to various worldly matters. There is an increased desire for wealth, food, entertainment, and all things related to material enjoyment.
Due to the intense desire for more, a person gradually becomes distanced from spirituality. They begin to drift away from discipline, righteousness, cleanliness, and religion. As a result, various physical problems start to arise. There is disruption in work, a decline in mental well-being, and an increase in domestic or family disputes. For many, the obsession with achieving more leads to significant harm in their lives.
The true essence of happiness lies in maintaining discipline, cleanliness, and adhering to righteousness and religious principles in our daily lives. When we follow these, both our physical and mental well-being remain in good condition. If our physical and mental state is good, our work will also be good. And when our work is good, everything else falls into place.
"During Rahu's major period, minor period, or when Rahu is negatively positioned in transit, daily routines are often disrupted, leading to various problems. The simplest way to protect oneself from Rahu's malefic effects is to align oneself with the qualities of Ketu. Ketu is the planet that signifies spirituality and connects us with the Divine. To connect with the Divine, we must first bring changes in our way of life. Our daily life should prioritize discipline, cleanliness, righteousness, and religion. Only then can we become worthy of coming closer to God. Since Ketu is the medium that connects us with the Divine, aligning with Ketu requires adhering to these principles.
If we align ourselves with the qualities of Ketu, we can protect ourselves from the negativity of Rahu during its major period, minor period, or transit, and the malefic effects of Rahu in the ascendant or other positions. The illusion created by Rahu cannot harm us. The reason it is called an illusion is that during Rahu's period, while we may hope to gain a lot, we often end up losing even more. Therefore, what else can Rahu's period be called but an illusion?
Aligning with the qualities of Ketu means living a life that emphasizes discipline, cleanliness, righteousness, and religion, essentially embracing spirituality. If the hardships of Rahu's period become overwhelming, it is advised to reduce or give up consuming non-vegetarian food and adopt a vegetarian diet. Additionally, one should strictly avoid any intoxicating substances.
Therefore, during Rahu's major period, minor period, or if Rahu is positioned in the ascendant or a specific sign, individuals should always align themselves with the qualities of Ketu. By doing so, Rahu will not be able to cause harm. On the contrary, by connecting with spirituality, you may find true happiness in life.
