Ketu! A name that evokes fear in everyone to some extent. Rahu and Ketu have no physical existence in the solar system. In Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu are regarded as shadow planets.
According to mythology, when Lord Vishnu was distributing the elixir of immortality among the gods, a demon named Swarbhanu disguised himself as a deity and stood between the Sun and the Moon to consume the elixir. When the Sun and the Moon informed Lord Vishnu about this, he used his Sudarshan Chakra to decapitate the demon. However, since Swarbhanu had already consumed the elixir, he became immortal in two parts. The head part is known as Rahu, and the body part from the neck down is known as Ketu.
When the Sun and Moon informed Lord Vishnu about Swarbhanu's deceit in consuming the elixir, and as a result, when Swarbhanu's body was split in two, Swarbhanu vowed to eclipse the Sun and the Moon whenever he got the chance. This is the origin of solar and lunar eclipses according to mythology. Modern science may not accept this story, but if you observe the planetary positions during each solar and lunar eclipse, you will notice that during a solar eclipse, the Sun is very close to the degrees of Ketu or Rahu, and during a lunar eclipse, the Moon is very close to the degrees of Rahu or Ketu. In other words, solar and lunar eclipses occur when the Sun and Moon come close to the degrees of Rahu and Ketu.
In the astrological chart, Rahu and Ketu do not have their own houses. Rahu is considered the co-ruler of Aquarius, while Ketu is seen as the co-ruler of Scorpio. Some believe that Rahu is exalted in Taurus and others in Gemini, while some consider Ketu to be exalted in Scorpio and others in Sagittarius.
In astrology, Ketu is associated with spirituality. Ketu is considered the planet that signifies liberation. If we wish to connect ourselves with spirituality, we must adhere to discipline, cleanliness, religion, and righteousness. Only then can we connect with or come into the presence of the divine. Ketu serves as a medium for connecting with the divine. To align with Ketu, these principles must be fully observed. The house in the astrological chart where Ketu is positioned requires the individual to always uphold religion, righteousness, discipline, and cleanliness concerning the matters of that house.
If Ketu is positioned in the seventh house, then in matters related to the seventh house, such as marital life and everyday transactions, one must always act with adherence to religion, righteousness, discipline, and cleanliness.
If these principles are not followed, various problems and misunderstandings may arise in married life. If the seventh house, its ruler, or the significators of marriage (Jupiter and Venus) are under significant malefic influence or if Ketu is not well-placed in the seventh house, events like divorce may occur.
If Ketu is in the seventh house and significant problems arise in married life, it is beneficial to avoid non-vegetarian and intoxicating foods, and adopt a vegetarian diet.
Therefore, individuals with Ketu in the seventh house should always align themselves with the principles associated with Ketu. By following these guidelines and receiving Ketu's blessings, their married life will be smooth and harmonious.
